Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday kicks off Lent. During this service we apply ashes to eachother's foreheads in the sign of the cross stating, from dust you were created, to dust you shall return. Ash wednesday reminds us that life is not forever. It reminds us that just like Jesus, we too will die. But it also reminds us, through the sign of the cross, that we do not die alone. That we die with Jesus, which means, we will also rise like Jesus. The old creation must die, for the new creation to live.
