On Wednesday, December 2, we will offer an Advent Contemplative Mid-Week Service at 6:30pm in  Barkley Chapel. A contemplative worship service allows and offers moments of silence for our hearts to listen, prepare and to be alert to how the Holy Spirit is with us.

The characteristics of contemplative worship are

  • An opening call to worship and prayer
  • Music that we will listen to but not sing
  • Reading from Holy Scripture
  • A brief reflection or mediation
  • As we worship we will be in silence not responding but only listening
  • A goal of contemplative worship is that we will be able to just be present and not do anything —except listen and hear Jesus calling.
  • You may be asked to read a lesson or offer a prayer; you will know that before the service begins.

We invite you to come and experience this contemplative worship service. The hope is that you will experience the peace that passes all understanding. Everyone is welcomed. You do not need to be participating in Group or Individual Spiritual Formation— just come as you are, open, alert, and present to be formed by the Holy Spirit.
